Why Do Physical Therapy & Chiropractic Care Work Better Together?

A Team Approach to Better Movement & Lasting Relief

Physical therapy and chiropractic care each play an important role in helping your body move and function at its best. When combined, they can improve results, help adjustments last longer, support long-term pain relief, and assist with a quicker return to prior function and performance.

Physical Therapy Enhances Chiropractic Care

In addition to standard sessions, brief physical therapy treatments are available to fit seamlessly into your chiropractic visits.

Before Your Chiropractic Adjustment

A short physical therapy session can:

  • Loosen tight muscles
  • Improve mobility
  • Help make your adjustment more effective

After Your Chiropractic Adjustment

A short physical therapy session can:

  • Help your adjustments last longer
  • Provide longer-lasting pain relief by addressing the root causes of subluxation, including decreased mobility, reduced strength, and limited flexibility

What to Expect at Adler Physical Therapy

Comprehensive Initial Evaluation

Your first visit includes a thorough evaluation to assess your strength, mobility, and areas of tightness or pain. This allows Brooke to identify your specific limitations and develop a personalized treatment plan designed to help you return to optimal performance. Please allow 1.5 hours for your initial evaluation so a complete and thoughtful plan can be created.

Individualized Plan of Care

After your evaluation, a plan of care is established based on the findings to help you reach your rehabilitation goals. Follow-up treatments will be one hour in length.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to see a physical therapist in Alpharetta?

In Georgia, you can see a physical therapist without a physician referral for an initial evaluation. However, some insurance plans may require one for ongoing covered treatment. Brooke can help guide you through what your specific plan requires.

How is physical therapy different from chiropractic care?

Chiropractic care focuses on spinal alignment and nervous system function through adjustments, while physical therapy targets muscle strength, flexibility, and functional movement. When used together, they address your condition from multiple angles — which is why patients often see better and longer-lasting results when both are involved in their care.

Will my insurance cover physical therapy at Alpharetta Family Chiropractic?

Adler Physical Therapy offers insurance reimbursement. It’s best to contact your insurance provider directly or speak with Brooke to verify your specific coverage before your first visit.

How long does a physical therapy session take?

Your initial evaluation is scheduled for approximately 1.5 hours to allow time for a thorough assessment and treatment planning. Follow-up sessions are one hour in length.

Can I do physical therapy and chiropractic on the same visit?

Yes — that’s one of the unique advantages of having both services in the same office. Brief PT sessions can be scheduled before or after your chiropractic adjustment to help prepare your body and extend the benefits of your treatment.

What conditions does physical therapy help with?

Physical therapy can benefit a wide range of conditions including back and neck pain, sports injuries, post-surgical recovery, joint pain, balance issues, and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. Brooke works with patients of all ages and activity levels.
